Vincentian Academy students enjoy a variety of co-curricular activities to support and enhance their high school experience. Every year student-created clubs expand the offerings available both during school hours as well as outside of the regular school day. Groups enjoy developing projects for Student Council, Campus Ministry, the SADD Club, the Environmental Club, as well as competing in the Chess Club or Forensics, and tapping their creativity in the Art Club, the PA Junior Academy of Science, or by working on the Yearbook . The Chorus, Orchestra, Chapel Choir, and Drama Club also provide outlets for their talents. These are but a few of the activities open to students of all grade levels at the Academy.
Club Highlights
Student Council: members are elected class officers who work together to develop activities and events for the entire student body.
Campus Ministry: students of any grade level may join the campus ministry team which spearheads a variety of activities such as the monthly prayer services, Catholic Schools Week activities, Halloween activities/Catholic Charities fundraising events, and preparation for participation in the Hosanna 2011 scheduled for Palm Sunday April 17, 2011.
SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions): a very popular club that enables students to develop activities, programs, assemblies for school as well as to participate in local convocations of other SADD clubs.
Environmental Club: students interested in recycling, proper use of and respect for our local and global environment learn about programs and procedures that can be applied locally and beyond. The group was among the top local schools in the Envirothon competition in the spring of 2010.
Chess Club: students flex those brain muscles by enjoying competition during STAT in preparation for interscholastic competition with other Pittsburgh-area schools.
Most of these clubs meet regularly during STAT periods during the school day.
STAT periods run from 2:05-2:30 every day that is a "regular schedule" day.
Students may use the STAT time for Service, Tutoring, Activities, or Time for studying. Some of them do involve additional time outside of the school day.
